Our NYC project is in Delish and House Beautiful!
The July 2023 issue of Delish and House Beautiful July/August 2023 features Delish Kitchen Studios — the new 3,000 sq ft production space for Delish in New York City.
Delish tests and films more than 100 recipes a month, and they had outgrown their 350 square foot kitchen. Editorial Director Joanna Saltz told management: "If we can build this brand with 350 square feet, imagine what we could do with 3,000?"
The result is a test kitchen, event space, bar, and three sound-proofed studios for website, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram content. We worked with Jacobs Doland Beer and architects Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel to make it function flawlessly — I guided all color and residential softening.
As Joanna told MediaVillage: "Most of the space is done in neutrals — stainless, white quartz, blond wood and light gray cabinets. But each room includes pops of color that lend elements of surprise and delight, with interior designer Betsy Wentz guiding the selections. The test kitchen is filled with so much bright fun color."
My favorite part is the Event Space & Bar. We used Phillip Jeffries Enchanted Woods in Moon Glow — authentic cork bark in white — as the backdrop.
As I told Phillip Jeffries: "The goal was to soften the commercial space and lend a more residential feel. The fun lollipop colored chairs, oversized light fixture and pin up cork wall all contribute to the home-like feel."
I love hanging cork and then covering it in textured paper — the mini pin holes don't show, so you can hang anything. We chose white because it was a great backdrop for all the pops of teal and coral, and a great contrast to the black TV.
The space got a full overhaul with sponsors GE Profile, GoodCook, and custom cabinetry concealing hidden outlets, Fireclay Tile Calcite Gloss backsplash, white quartz, and those lollipop chairs.
