Our Kips Bay Palm Beach room was featured in Frederic Magazine!

Their take: The Pittsburgh-based Wentz combined forces with local architect Kirchhoff for a knock-out pair of his and her master closets.

What they loved: bold patterns and vivid hues cover every square inch — walls, ceilings, even the garment bags.

For Kips Bay 2020, architect Tom Kirchhoff and I reworked a cramped his-and-hers bath + closet into a real suite. Frederic focused on the closet side, House Beautiful focused on the bathroom trick. Same room, two stories.

My idea for the closets was to treat them like a boutique, not storage. If you wrap walls AND ceiling in pattern, and carry pattern onto garment bags, the closet feels intentional. You want to be in there.

We used Schumacher prints throughout — Josef Frank for Schumacher on the vintage chaise that sits between bath and closet — and layered so every surface has something. Even functional pieces got pattern.

That detail — pattern on garment bags — is what Frederic called out. It's small, but it makes the whole suite feel cohesive. Nothing left white just because it's utilitarian.

This show house led directly to Cyprus Grove in Boca Raton. The homeowners were at Kips Bay that year, saw the closets and bath, and hired me.
