Kips Bay Palm Beach Showhouse Featured in Veranda 2024

Our Kips Bay Palm Beach room is in Veranda!

I’m so thrilled to finally share The Parlour — my room for the 7th annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach at 230 Miramar Way in the SoSo neighborhood of West Palm Beach. It was featured in Veranda Digital in January, Luxe Interiors Digital in January, and House Beautiful Digital in February 2024.

For those who don’t know, Kips Bay Show House benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County and the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in New York City. Since 1973, it’s raised more than $29 million for after-school programs. It’s such an honor to be part of it — this is my second time doing Palm Beach (2022 and 2024) after the Hamptons Showhouse in 2019 and 2025.

This year, I was asked to do the hallway lounge/bar that leads to the second-floor primary suite. It has three sets of French doors that open right to a patio — perfect for Palm Beach indoor-outdoor entertaining.

Usually I’m designing for a client. For a show house, there are no clients — you get to design for an imaginary person. I decided to be the imaginary person.

As I told Veranda, "I'm the imaginary person. I'm so used to working with clients — and there are no palette cleansers in a show house. Because I love color and pattern, I designed the space to suit myself. It's about doing 'me plus.'"

And "me plus" is exactly what The Parlour is.

Banquette with coral welt. It’s whimsical and playful and very maximalist — but tastefully so. The palette is pinkish lavender, turquoise, and coral, all in Sanderson / Harlequin fabric wall coverings and textiles.

A few details Veranda highlighted that I love:

The bar. A Forte bar embellished with turquoise-veined quartzite. It catches the light so beautifully.

The banquette. A built-in corner banquette with a jumbo 2-inch coral velvet welt at the bottom. I added that welt for extra layering — it delineates the shape and makes it feel more custom.

The stools. Mushroom-shaped stools in front of the sofa, some with beetle-embroidered covers. They make me smile every time.

The rug. A custom high-low rug by Rug & Kilim — Veranda called out that several rugs in the show house were by them, including ours. They’re our go-to.

As I said in the interview, "The room stops you. Maximalism is the theme. It's a lot to take in, but it's done tastefully."

It was such a little jewel box to get to do whatever I wanted — no guardrails, just color and pattern at full volume. So different from our 1903 historic renovations here in Pittsburgh where we’re preserving woodwork, or our soft monochromatic retreats in Maine.

Thank you so much to Veranda, Luxe Interiors, House Beautiful, and Palm Beach Daily News for featuring The Parlour, and to Kips Bay and photographer Nickolas Sargent.

If you’re in Palm Beach, the house is at 230 Miramar Way in SoSo, just south of Southern Boulevard near the Intracoastal. And you can see more of our show house work from Kips Bay Palm Beach 2022 and Hamptons Designer Showhouse 2019 in our press page
